Nursery

The age group for this class is 2 - 4 years depending on when a child's birthday falls. The class is 45 minutes and is run by 3 teachers and 2 teaching assistants. Parents are welcome to stay with their children as our experience shows, children settle better and more quickly when their parents are around. Please don't be disheartened if your child takes a few weeks to settle in, this is completely normal and we allow for children taking to new activities at their own pace. This class teaches 3 types of dance:

Ballet

We introduce some of the terms used in the full ballet classes and start the class off with some gentle ballet steps and fun, imaginative combinations.

Jazz

We learn how to use our bodies in other ways and use more funky music to create small routines.

Tap

We begin to learn the basics of rhythm, counting and using the taps on our shoes to make a noise!

Infants

The age range for this class is Pre-school year (age 4 and up), Primary 1 & Primary 2. We divide the class into a Pre-school group and a Primary 1/ 2 group, each with a teacher and a Senior helper. The class is 60 or 90 minutes (depending on level) and split between 3 types of dance:

Lyrical Jazz

Lyrical Jazz is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. The dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Routines are choreographed to a range of different music from fast to slow.

There should be continuation of movement, flowing from one move to the next. Pupils hold the move for as long as possible, and have smooth transitions between others. The dancer may periodically stop or incorporate "sharp" moves.

Loose comfortable clothing and socks should be worn for this class which is suitable for both senior and adult pupils.

Lyrical is taught in a workshop format every few months.
